Telemonitoring

TELEMONITORING SERVICES

Telemonitoring is a scheduled remote data service from home to monitor a patient’s health. Data is then sent from the patient’s home to a licensed Home Health Agency or hospital. The data transmission must comply with standards set by HIPAA. Data parameters are established as ordered by a physician’s plan of care. It must be reviewed by a registered nurse (RN, NP, CNS, or PA) who is responsible for reporting data to the prescribing physician in the event of a measurement. Scheduled periodic reporting of the patient’s data to the physician is required, even when there has been no readings outside the parameters established by the physician’s orders. Telemonitoring
